GOREWEAR C5 Opti + Bib Short

The GOREWEAR C5 Opti + is a smart, comfortable pair of bib shorts for anyone who regularly rides a road bike and wants to cycle on hot days without any hassle. The fabric dries quickly, the mesh bib straps allow your upper body to breathe, and the flat leg cuffs stay securely in place.

The clever detail lies in the chamois. Even on a hot day, the wind feels refreshing, especially on a descent or at high speed. That’s why the front of the ADVANCED Road chamois features a GOREWEAR Cup: a moulded insert that protects your crotch from that cold wind whilst still allowing good breathability.

This version is all black, with the GORE logo printed on it. This means it goes with almost any jersey. The inside leg length is 25 cm, a standard length for cycling shorts. The shorts have a form-fit cut and are available in sizes S to XXL. If you mainly cycle in cooler weather, opt for long trousers or warmer bib shorts.

A chamois specially designed for road bikes and the male anatomy, ensuring you remain comfortable during your regular training rides.

GOREWEAR Cup

A moulded insert at the front of the chamois. It blocks out the cold wind where you feel it most, whilst still allowing good breathability so you don’t get too hot.

Mesh bib straps

The bib straps are made entirely of mesh. They keep the shorts firmly in place whilst allowing plenty of air to pass through, which you’ll notice straight away on hot days.

Suitable for

• Men: the chamois and the GOREWEAR Cup are shaped to fit the male anatomy.
• Road bikes and rides on warm days, from an hour’s training to your regular weekend ride.
• A shirt or jersey worn over the bib straps.

Not suitable for

• Women: the chamois is shaped to fit the male anatomy. In that case, choose a pair of women's bib shorts.
• Cold or wet days: the fabric is thin and the bib straps are made of mesh, so the shorts won’t keep you warm.
• Wearing them with underpants underneath: this prevents the chamois from working as intended and actually makes chafing more likely.

• Measure your waist at the narrowest point, your hips at the widest point and your inside leg from the crotch to the floor, then compare these measurements with the size chart. If you’re between two sizes, your hip measurement is the deciding factor.

• Chamois cream for longer rides
• A short-sleeved cycling jersey to complete the outfit

• Wear the shorts without any underwear underneath. The chamois is designed to sit directly against your skin.
• If you’re cycling for longer than you’re used to, apply some chamois cream to the chamois to prevent chafing.
• Wash the shorts after every ride according to the washing instructions on the label. Washing them inside out, without fabric softener, helps keep the chamois and fabric looking good for longer.
